The combination of OLED technology and ultrawide form factor can provide an enjoyable experience for entrainment uses such as gaming and viewing ultrawide video content. The LG UltraGear 34GS95QE (34GS95QE-B owing to largely black rear) offers this combination, featuring a steeply curved OLED panel. The styling is quite minimalistic, with a low-profile stand base and slender neck with lilac-coloured cable tidy loop towards the middle. The bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.

The front view

A 34″ LG Display WOLED panel is used with 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) resolution and support for a 240Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR allows VRR for a range of systems including Xbox Series X, PS5 and PCs with AMD (FreeSync Premium Pro) and Nvidia (‘G-SYNC Compatible’) GPUs. The monitor includes a matte anti-glare screen surface and has an 800R (steep) curve to help aid immersion. This contrasts with the glossy and more gently curved QD-OLED options, such as the Dell Alienware AW3423DW. A 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio is specified, whilst the screen has ‘flicker-free’ illumination with a 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut specified. Although not currently mentioned, we expect a 250 cd/m² (1300 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance to be specified.

The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, with additional HDR settings offering higher brightness peaks expected. This allows the screen to make good use of its generous gamut, per-pixel dimming and 10-bit colour support with some good brightness pulses. A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified – as usual pay little attention to the exact figure, though OLED technology is known for exceptional pixel responsiveness. The stand allows tilt, swivel and height adjustment. The ports include 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and DP 1.4 (with DSC), plus a downwards-facing 4 pole 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack beneath the bottom bezel which supports DTS Headphone:X.

Further details can be found in this press release from the manufacturer. The monitor is listed for ~$1300 USD.
