3440 x 1440 ultrawides offer an immersive experience for gameplay and movies, with a good amount of horizontal space on the desktop. The Gigabyte G34WQC2 offers this with its 200Hz ultrawide VA panel. The stand has a simple modern look, with low-profile coated metal base and slender neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a fairly slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a downwards-facing joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.

Metal stand

A 34″ VA panel is used with 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) resolution and matte anti-glare screen surface, alongside a 1500R curve. This is a moderate curve which adds a touch of immersion and potentially improves viewing comfort, without feeling unnatural. A 200Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with assumed 48 – 200Hz VRR range (plus LFC). A static contrast ratio of 4000:1 is specified, alongside 10-bit colour support and 178°/178° viewing angles. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 450 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 (125% sRGB) colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included for a potentially more relaxing viewing experience.

The monitor offers simple HDR10 support, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used and the reasonable gamut put to good use. It lacks high brightness by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified, however. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, which is an aggressive specification for a VA panel. The stand offers tilt, swivel and 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment, whilst provision for alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is also offered. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DP 1.4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output.
