OLED monitors provide exceptional pixel responses and are ripe for high refresh rates. The Gigabyte AORUS FO27Q5P provides this, with support for a 500Hz refresh rate from its responsive QD-OLED panel. The monitor includes coated metal and plastic elements for the stand, with prominent feet making up its base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. An ‘active area’ (overprovisioning of pixels) between the image and panel border is used for one of the image retention mitigation measures. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a central joystick beneath the bottom bezel.

A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is adopted with 500Hz refresh. VRR is supported, including Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing VRR technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used, with 48 – 500Hz VRR range plus LFC. A 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD signal can also be used on modern consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside VRR. The usual glossy anti-reflective QD-OLED screen surface is used, whilst the screen has a specified 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. The screen is ‘flicker-free’ with 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance (1000 cd/m² HDR peak at 3% APL). A dynamic HDR10 experience is provided, with the monitor able to put its per-pixel illumination, generous gamut and 10-bit colour to good use. This model is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified – requiring higher brightness levels, including full screen white brightness, than the more common True Black 400 certification. An HDR mode with higher peak brightness is also included.

The monitor includes a factory calibration with a DeltaE <2 and has a specified 0.03ms grey to grey response time - OLED technology is known to be very strong in this respect. "OLED VRR Anti-Flicker" is also noted on the product page. The stand is fully adjustable, including height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment and pivot into portrait. An RGB LED lighting element is included above the stand attachment point. The stand can be removed using a quick-release mechanism and replaced by an alternative 100 x 100m VESA compatible solution, if preferred. The screen is passively cooled, using a graphene film. The ports face downwards beneath the stand attachment point and include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 2.1 port (UHBR20), Mini DP 2.1 port (UHBR20), DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (18W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus Type-B upstream), a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 3.5mm microphone jack and DC power input (external 'power brick'). 2 x 5W speakers are also included, for potentially quite rich sound output.
