The BenQ MOBIUZ EX271QMZ is a 240Hz QHD QD-OLED model designed with this in mind. The monitor has a ‘contrasty’ appearance with a mixture of black and white matte plastics used for the stand. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. An overprovisioning of pixels or ‘active area’ surrounds the image, used for one of the image retention mitigation measures common to OLEDs. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated power button is also included.
A 26.5″ Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is used with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution and support for a 240Hz refresh rate. VRR is supported via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. VRR is also supported on systems like the PS5 which don’t support Adaptive-Sync, but can use HDMI 2.1 VRR instead. A glossy anti-reflective screen surface is included, whilst a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles, 0.03ms grey to grey response time and 10-bit colour are specified. The monitor is ‘flicker-free’, with 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 200 cd/m² typical maximum luminance specified – this is one of the reduced brightness QD-OLED panels.
The monitor is listed without any VESA DisplayHDR True Black certification, owing to its lower brightness capabilities. It can still put its per-pixel dimming, generous gamut and 10-bit colour to good use under HDR. An HDR brightness peak of 400 cd/m² is specified. The stand includes tilt, swivel and limited height adjustment (100mm or 3.94 inches) – with provision for alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting included. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4, USB-C (15W PD) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output, whilst a graphene film heat sink is used for passive cooling.
