The AOC CQ32G4ZA is built around this premise, a ‘triple mode’ monitor capable of 240Hz at its native QHD resolution, 360Hz FHD and 500Hz HD. This model has a simple matte plastic design, including ‘penguin foot’ stand base and dual-stage bezels. These encompass a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, alongside a thin hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons which face downwards towards the right side of the bottom bezel.
A 31.5″ Fast VA panel with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution is employed, with matte anti-glare screen surface and 1500R (moderate) curve designed to draw you in a bit. A 240Hz refresh rate is supported at the native QHD resolution, alongside 360Hz FHD (1080p) and 500Hz HD (720p). Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 240Hz (higher cap at lower resolutions) VRR range plus LFC. The backlight is flicker-free with a 450 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut – a ‘hardware solution’ for Low Blue Light (LBL) is included, meaning the backlight has a shifted (less energetic) blue peak to potentially improve viewing comfort. The monitor offers basic HDR10 support at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used and the colour gamut to be put to good use. Brightness is not very high by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified, however. The stand includes tilt, swivel and height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment, with 100 x 100mm VESA mounting offered as an alternative. The ports face downwards and include; DP 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). Integrated 2 x 5W speakers are included for basic sound output.
