The high refresh rate ‘4K’ UHD experience can now be enjoyed by both PC and console users. This is something the BenQ EX2710U provides, with support for HDMI 2.1 allowing it to leverage a ‘4K’ UHD @120Hz signal for the Xbox Series X and PS5. As a member of the MOBIUZ series, the monitor offers the usual visual flair. This includes a ‘penguin foot’ stand design topped with silver-coloured plastic and an orange-coloured inner surface. The top and side bezels have a dual-stage design, including a slim outer plastic part and a panel border surrounding the image, flush with the rest of the screen. The bottom bezel includes an IR sensor for the included OSD (On Screen Display) remote and a light sensor used for the ‘B.I.+’ and ‘HDRi’ functions of the screen. These allow the monitor to automatically adjust elements such as brightness and colour temperature according with ambient lighting. It also includes 2 x 2W speakers and an integrated microphone. The OSD is controlled by a joystick and accompanying shortcut buttons which face downwards, to the right of the sensor suite. Or with the included IR remote, if preferred. Towards the right side, facing forwards, there’s a dedicated ‘HDRi’ button.

A 27″ 3840 x 2160 ‘4K’ UHD Nano IPS panel is used, more specifically the LM270WR8-SSA1. This includes a light to very light matte anti-glare screen surface, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour (8-bit + FRC). The monitor supports Adaptive-Sync, including AMD FreeSync Premium Pro with 48 – 144Hz VRR range plus LFC assumed. A flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance (600 cd/m² HDR peak). The monitor supports VESA DisplayHDR 600, allowing it to respond to HDR10 content and put its relatively generous colour gamut and 10-bit colour support to good use. It also brings with it a fairly high peak luminance with basic local dimming on the backlight used to enhance contrast. The usual set of well-tuned Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to create a more relaxing viewing experience.

A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified (caution advised), alongside a 1ms MPRT response time using the Blur Reduction strobe backlight setting. The rear of the screen makes extensive use of matte white plastic, with 4 customisable RGB lighting strips included. The stand attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism, allowing it to be easily removed to reveal provision for an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution. The stand offers tilt, swivel and height (100mm or 3.94 inches) adjustment. The ports face downwards beneath a removable port cover and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack and 4 USB 3.0 ports (plus upstream). An integrated 5W subwoofer above the stand attachment point completes the 2.1 channel treVolo sound system.
