Whilst far less common for the 2560 x 1440 resolution, some users prefer the relatively compact size of a ~24″ screen. This combination of resolution and screen size also delivers quite a tight pixel density, aiding clarity. This is offered by the Dell P2423D of the ‘P’ series. As expected for a monitor in this series, the styling is simple and modern. Matte black plastics surround the screen, whilst the stand uses a satin-finish silver plastic. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, which includes a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen as well as the slim hard plastic surround. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated power button is found beside this.

Simple modern styling

The monitor adopts a 23.8″ IPS-type panel with 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast, 178°/178° and 8-bit colour is specified. The flicker-free WLED backlight has a specified 99% sRGB colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The monitor includes ‘ComfortView Plus’, with its peak of blue light shifted to less energetic wavelengths to potentially aid viewing comfort (TÜV Rheinland certified hardware solution). Additionally, a ‘ComfortView’ Low Blue Light (LBL) setting is included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, though the usual caution is advised. The stand is fully adjustable including 150mm (5.9 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be easily removed by pressing a quick-release button beneath the attachment point, with provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting included. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 1.4, DP 1.2 and 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus upstream). 2 additional USB 3.2 ports are located at the bottom of the screen outside the main port area, towards the left side as viewed from the front for easy access.

Good ergonomics

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor has an initial list price of ~$460 USD. A variant with USB-C capability is listed for ~$530 USD, the P2423DE.
