Further information on supporting our work.New generation QD-OLED Penta Tandem panels include various benefits to the brightness and screen surface which can significantly enhance the experience, but have so far been absent in the popular 27″ 1440p segment. The ASUS ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMSR addresses that, featuring a 320Hz improved QD-OLED panel and marrying this with sleek ROG Strix styling. This includes a low-profile coated metal stand base which is simpler and more minimalistic than some older models in this series. The top and side bezels are ‘dual stage’ with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus thin hard outer part. An overprovisioning of pixels (‘active area’) between the image and panel border facilitates one of the burn-in mitigation measures. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick and two buttons behind the central protrusion on the bottom bezel. An illuminated ROG motif is also included there, though this can be disabled if you prefer. A ‘Neo Proximity Sensor’ is included which can blank the screen out when nobody is using it.
A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) Samsung Display QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel features, with 320Hz refresh rate and VRR support – including Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1. This allows technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to be used, as well as VRR support on systems like the PS5 which lack Adaptive-Sync. The screen surface is glossy with anti-reflective treatment, including ‘BlackShield Film’ to reduce lightening up of the screen surface in ambient light by 40% and giving superior scratch resistance (2.5x) compared to earlier QD-OLEDs, taking the screen from 2H to 3H on the pencil hardness test. Other aspects of note include; a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles, 10-bit colour, 0.03ms grey to grey response time and factory calibration with specified DeltaE <2. The monitor is 'flicker-free', with 300 cd/m² (1300 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut.
The monitor offers a dynamic HDR experience, able to put its generous colour gamut, per-pixel dimming and 10-bit colour to good use. VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification is included, which requires higher brightness levels (including full screen white brightness) than the more common True Black 400 certification. Alternative HDR settings with higher brightness peaks are included, with this model offering an edge over most QD-OLEDs in that regard with 1300 cd/m² rather than 1000 cd/m² peak luminance. The included stand attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism and offers full flexibility, including 110mm (4.33 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is facilitated as an alternative, with an adaptor bracket included in the box. The ports face downwards and include; HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C (15W PD, DP Alt Mode) and an AC power input (internal power converter). A 3-year warranty including burn-in cover is included for peace of mind.

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website, with details on price and availability still to come.
