Further information on supporting our work. Some users really appreciate the horizontal ‘real-estate’ and general experience offered by ultrawide monitors. The AOC CU34G2XP (CU34G2XP/BK owing to the black stand base) is one such offering, with familiar ‘G2 series’ styling. This includes extensive use of matte black plastic with a few dark red metallic-effect elements for a touch of visual contrast. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons facing downwards towards the right side of the bottom bezel.
A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) VA panel is included with support for 170Hz refresh rate and 1500R (moderate) curve to draw you in a bit and increase the feeling of immersion. Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with assumed 48 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is employed with some key specifications of note including a 4000:1 static contrast ratio, 10-bit colour support and 178°/178° viewing angles. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a maximum luminance of 400 cd/m²+ and 99% sRGB colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience.
Basic HDR10 support is provided at the VESA DispalyHDR 400 level. So not very bright by HDR standards and no local dimming required – plus a restrictive colour gamut by HDR standards. But enough to give a different look to things with 10-bit colour processing put to use. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified alongside 1ms MPRT using the MBR strobe backlight setting, approach with caution as usual. ‘Low Input Lag’ is also noted. The stand provides tilt, swivel and height adjustment and can removed using a quick-release catch to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards and include; 2 DP 1.4 ports, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio output, 4 USB ports and AC power input (internal power converter).
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor has an MSRP of ~£340 with release from Mid-December 2023, no current word on release in the US.
