Further information on supporting our work. The ~32″ screen size is often considered something of a ‘sweet spot’ for the ‘4K’ UHD resolution. The Samsung S32B800PXE (S32B80 of the ‘ViewFinity S8’ or S80PB series) hits this, designed for strong colour-accurate content creation. The monitor adopts smart ‘business-like’ styling, with dark matte plastics used extensively on the screen itself and a coated metal stand with low-profile stand base and cylindrical neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a thin hard plastic outer part. A light sensor is included which allows brightness and colour temperature to adjust according to ambient lighting. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central area of the bottom bezel.
A 31.5″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) IPS-type panel is adopted, with 60Hz refresh rate and ‘glare-free’ matte anti-glare screen surface. The monitor is based on a BOE IPS-ADS panel (or CELL, with custom backlight) more specifically. This is accompanied by a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support (8-bit + FRC assumed). A factory calibration is included with report, whilst an sRGB setting is included. A flicker-free QD LED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² (600 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut. VESA DisplayHDR 600 support is included, allowing the screen to react to HDR10 content in a fairly dynamic way. This includes some degree of local dimming, allows 10-bit colour processing to be used and for the generous DCI-P3 coverage to be put to good use.
Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included, whilst a 5ms grey to grey response time is specified. As usual, don’t pay too much attention to this specification. The stand is fully adjustable, including 120mm (4.72 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. A quick-release mechanism allows easy detachment of the included stand, revealing 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, LAN (Ethernet) and USB-C (90W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data). A 3.5mm headphone jack and 3 USB 3.0 ports face backwards to the right of the stand.
