The ‘4K’ UHD resolution can be put to good use on a ~32″ screen, bringing benefits for both work and play. A 120Hz+ refresh rate can certainly sweeten the deal. The Samsung S32BG70 (S32BG700 with various regional suffixes) of the Odyssey G7 (G70B) series offers this experience. HDMI 2.1 is included to deliver a 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD experience for compatible games consoles such as the Xbox Series X and PS5, alongside VRR. Familiar styling for the series is offered, including extensive use of black matte plastic and customisable RGB LED cheek pieces that form part of the ‘Infinity Core Lighting’. The top and side bezels are slim and dual-stage with thin panel border flush with the rest of the screen and slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by directional buttons which face downwards towards the central region of the bottom bezel. Or alternatively using an included IR remote. An ambient light sensor is included which adapts the monitor according to room lighting.

The monitor adopts a 31.5″ IPS-type panel, the BOE ME315QUM-NF0 IPS-ADS panel more specifically. A 144Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync – including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro with assumed 48 – 144Hz VRR range plus LFC. A 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles are specified, whilst a flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut. The monitor responds to HDR10 content at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, offering a very basic HDR experience that allows 10-bit colour processing to be used and for the wide gamut to be used appropriately. But without effective local dimming or a high luminance by HDR standards.

A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you shouldn’t put too much weight on. The stand attaches centrally and can be removed to allow provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. An ‘Infinity Core Lighting’ ring of RGB LEDs surrounds this point, customisable in the OSD. The included stand offers full adjustability, including 120mm (4.72 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports face downwards and include; DP 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus Type-B upstream), a 3.5mm headphone jack, ethernet (LAN) port and DC power input (external ‘power brick’). The monitor includes a range of ‘Smart Hub’ features which can be accessed via WiFi or ethernet, without the need for a system connected (Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, ‘Samsung TV Plus’, ‘Gaming Hub’ etc.) Bluetooth is also included, alongside basic integrated speakers.
