Further information on supporting our work.~34″ ultrawides with 3440 x 1440 resolution provide a good amount of horizontal ‘desktop real-estate’ for productivity tasks. The Philips 34B1U5600CH is designed with this in mind, coupling it with a 120Hz refresh rate for extra fluidity. The monitor has a simple and smart look, with rectangular stand base and brushed-effect dark matte plastics used extensively. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus thin hard plastic outer part. A top-mounted 5MP webcam with integrated noise cancelling microphone and Windows Hello compatibility is included. The bottom bezel includes a ‘PowerSensor’ which allows the screen to dim significantly or go into standby if nobody is detected in front of it for a certain period of time. And a ‘LightSensor’ which can react to ambient lighting. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons which face downwards towards the right side of the bottom bezel.
A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) VA panel is used, with 1500R (moderately steep) curve to draw you in a bit and potentially aid viewing comfort. A light matte anti-glare screen surface is included whilst a 120Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync (48 – 120Hz VRR range plus LFC). A 3000:1 static contrast ratio is specified alongside 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 120% sRGB colour gamut. The monitor is factory calibrated with DeltaE <2 for the sRGB colour space, with a 'SmartUniformity' Uniformity Compensation (UC) mode also included to improve brightness uniformity across the screen.
Low Blue Light (LBL) settings feature, whilst a 4ms grey to grey response time is specified – pay little attention to this specification. The included stand includes tilt, swivel and a generous amount of height adjustment (180mm or 7.09 inches). It attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter with ‘zero watt’ power switch), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, USB-C (100W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), USB-C (upstream data), an ethernet (LAN) port and 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. At the left side, as viewed from the front, the monitor includes; a 3.5mm audio out/mic combo jack, USB-C downstream (15W PD) and 2 further USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (one with BC 1.2 fast charging). The monitor includes KVM functionality, allowing sharing of connected USB peripherals and easy display input switching between 2 systems. 2-way PiP/PbP is also supported, whilst 2 x 5W speakers are included for audio output.
