The LG UltraGear 45GR65DC (45GR65DC-B owing to the largely black rear) is one such offering, adopting a 44.5″ curved VA panel. The screen offers the usual styling for the series, quite pared back as far as gaming monitors go. The top and side bezels feature the common dual-stage design, with panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick facing downwards beneath the central logo on the bottom bezel.
A 44.5″ VA panel is adopted with matte anti-glare screen surface, 5120 x 1440 (DQHD or Dual QHD) resolution and 32:9 aspect ratio. This is similar to having 2 x 24.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) models in one, side by side. A moderately steep 1500R curve is included, designed to enhance viewing comfort and generally appreciated on a monitor this wide. A 200Hz refresh rate is supported alongside a 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. Adaptive-Sync can be used alongside HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used. A 48 – 200Hz VRR range plus LFC is assumed. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 cd/m² (600 cd/m²+ HDR peak) typical maximum luminance.
The monitor responds to HDR10 content at the VESA DisplayHDR 600 level. This allows the colour gamut and 10-bit colour to be put to good use, alongside some degree of local dimming. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, with caution advised as usual. Dynamic Action Sync (DAS) is also specified as a nod towards low input lag. The screen attaches to its stand centrally via a quick-release mechanism and offers tilt, swivel and height adjustment (110mm or 4.34 inches). 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is facilitated as an alternative. The ports are located to the left of the stand attachment point, in a recessed area, and include; DP 1.4 (with DSC), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and a DC power input (external power converter). The monitor supports 2-device PbP and PiP and includes a downwards-facing 4 pole 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack beneath the bottom bezel, with support for DTS:X headsets.
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$800 USD. A variant with USB-C is listed for ~$900 USD, the 45GR75DC (45GR75DC-B).
