Further information on supporting our work. The 3440 x 1440 resolution on a 34″ screen offers sort of immersive entertainment and general desktop experience some users are after. The Gigabyte GS34WQCA offers such an experience, with low-profile metal stand design and slender bezels. These are the common dual-stage design, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick which faces downwards beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.
A 34″ VA panel is used with 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) resolution, support for a 120Hz refresh rate and a matte anti-glare screen surface. Adaptive-Sync features, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with 48 – 120Hz VRR range plus LFC. A moderate 1500R curve is used, adding a touch of immersion and potentially improving viewing comfort, without feeling unnatural. Other aspects of note include a 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 95% DCI-P3 (122% sRGB) colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included for a potentially more relaxing viewing experience.
The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used and the reasonable gamut put to good use. It lacks high brightness by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified, however. A 1ms MPRT response time is specified using the included ‘Aim Stabilizer’ strobe backlight setting. The stand provides tilt and 100mm (3.94 inches) height adjustment, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DP 1.4 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2-device PiP/PbP support is included.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. Details on price and availability still to come.
