The 34″ 3440 x 1440 UltraWide resolution provides plenty of horizontal ‘desktop real-estate’ whilst providing quite an immersive gaming and movie watching experience. The Cooler Master GM34-CWQ (sometimes given additional ARGB suffix) offers this, in high refresh rate VA flavour. The monitor has a medium-dark silver coloured stand with hexagonal ‘ring’ base design. This is a so-called ‘halo’ stand which includes customisable ARGB lighting on the underside. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slender hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear, towards the right side as viewed from the front.

A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (UWQHD, 21:9 ultrawide) VA panel is adopted with 1500R curve. A moderately steep curve which adds a bit of extra depth and is potentially beneficial for viewing comfort. A 144Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync – including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 144Hz VRR range (plus LFC). The monitor has a specified 4000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles with 8-bit colour support. A flicker-free QD LED backlight provides a 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. Basic HDR10 support is offered at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used with the fairly generous DCI-P3 coverage put to good use. It doesn’t require local dimming or a particularly high brightness output by HDR standards, however.

The screen also includes a Low Blue Light (LBL) setting to promote a more relaxing viewing experience, whilst a 0.5ms MPRT response time is specified using the included ‘MPRT’ strobe backlight setting. As usual, place little weight on such figures. The stand attaches centrally using a quick-release mechanism and includes tilt, swivel and limited height adjustment (80mm or 3.15 inches). It can be quickly removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4, USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode), USB-B upstream and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 USB 3.0 ports are included at the left side, as viewed from the front, whilst 2 x 5W speakers are included for potentially reasonably rich sound output.
