The combination of excellent responsiveness and strong image quality makes OLED technology particularly attractive to gamers. The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP provides a very high refresh rate OLED experience, complete with HDMI 2.1 ports to improve compatibility with games consoles such as the Xbox Series X and PS5. The monitor includes similar styling to many models in the series, with metal tripod-style stand base and a dark matte finish for most elements. The top and side bezels are ‘dual stage’ with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen. With an overprovisioning of pixels (active area) between the image and panel border to facilitate one of the ‘OLED Care+’ burn-in mitigation measures called ‘Screen Move’. This model provides excellent flexibility with these settings, allowing you to adjust or disable various settings that could potentially be annoying or distracting. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick and two buttons behind the central protrusion on the bottom bezel. A down-firing ROG logo projector is also included beneath the stand neck – both features can be independently disabled if preferred.

A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) LG Display WOLED panel is used with 480Hz refresh rate and RGWB subpixel layout. This is an improved layout which reduces fringing compared to the original RWBG layout. Other aspects of note include a matte anti-glare screen surface, 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. VRR is supported via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium, with 40 – 480Hz VRR range plus LFC. The screen is AdaptiveSync Display 480Hz certified, too. The monitor is flicker-free with TÜV Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) certification, due to the peak of blue light being shifted to less energetic wavelengths to aid viewing comfort. A 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut (135% sRGB) is specified, alongside 1300 cd/m² HDR peak luminance. A ‘Uniform Brightness’ setting is included to avoid distracting ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter) behaviour under SDR and using this we’d expect a peak luminance ~250 cd/m² . A factory calibration is included with specified DeltaE <2.

The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a dynamic way, with flexibility over adjustment of certain aspects such as brightness and colour channels. The monitor can put its per-pixel illumination, 10-bit colour support, generous DCI-P3 coverage and decent bursts of brightness to good use under HDR. Passive cooling is facilitated via a heatsink, rather than the screen relying on active cooling via a fan. A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you shouldn’t pay too much attention to. OLED technology is known for exceptional pixel responsiveness, however. ELMB also features, a BFI mode providing 480Hz-like motion clarity at 240Hz (with various caveats including lack of VRR, HDR, restricted brightness and some flickering). At the rear, a customisable pixel effect ‘Aura Sync’ (RGB LED) ROG logo is included towards the right side. The included stand attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism and offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 110mm (4.33 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is facilitated as an alternative with an adaptor bracket included. The ports face downwards and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’), a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC) and 2 USB 3.0 ports plus Type-B upstream.
