The ASUS ROG Strix XG259QN is one such offering, with a 380Hz-capable IPS panel. Styling is similar to others in the series, with a mixture of dark matte and satin plastics and quite a chunky-looking stand design. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick and buttons at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 24.5″ 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) IPS-type panel is used with support for a 380Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync. Allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with 60 – 380Hz VRR range plus LFC. We believe this is the AUO M250HAN03.0 AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle) panel more specifically. The monitor is also AdaptiveSync Display 380 certified. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used and a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour support specified. The monitor is factory calibrated with a specified DeltaE <2. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 400 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and ~sRGB colour gamut assumed. The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way, at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level. This doesn't require high brightness by HDR standards, a generous gamut or local dimming to enhance contrast. but allows 10-bit colour processing to be used and gives a different look to things for a bit of variety. A 1ms ('0.3ms min') grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you shouldn't put too much weight on. ELMB Sync is included, a strobe backlight setting which can be used alongside Adaptive-Sync if you wish. The stand attaches centrally and is fully adjustable, including 110mm (4.33 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be removed to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards and include; 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and DC power input (external ‘power brick’).
