The QHD resolution is something of a sweet spot for many, providing a good number of pixels for both work and play. Whilst most models are 27″ or larger, some prefer the higher pixel density experience provided by a smaller screen sharing the resolution. This is offered by the ASUS ProArt PA24ACRV, with a focus on accurate colour reproduction. The monitor has the usual smart look with combination of satin-finish silver plastic and dark matte plastic. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The bottom bezel is moderately thick with OSD (On Screen Display) control buttons facing forwards towards the right side. An ambient light sensor allows the screen to adjust its brightness automatically according to room lighting.

A smart look

A 23.8″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is used, with 75Hz refresh rate plus Adaptive-Sync. This allows technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with 48 – 75Hz VRR range. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour support are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a typical maximum luminance of 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR peak) alongside 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to potentially aid viewing comfort. A Calman Verified factory calibration is included with specified DeltaE <2, with sRGB emulation included. The monitor responds to HDR10 content at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing it to put its gamut to good use alongside 10-bit processing. No local dimming is specified and the brightness is limited by HDR standards, however.

A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you should approach with caution. The stand offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The stand can be removed via quick-release to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter with ‘zero watt’ switch), a 3.5mm headphone jack, HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, DP 1.4 output (for MST daisy chaining), USB-C (96W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, and USB-C downstream. 2 further USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports are found at the bottom of the screen (towards the left side as viewed from the front) for easy access. 2 x 2W speakers are included and 2-system PiP/PbP is supported.

Good ergonomics

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$350 USD.
