The 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution is attractive for design work and other creative purposes, providing an excellent pixel density to maximise detail and clarity. The AOC Graphic Pro U27U3CV provides this experience, with a focus on colour-accurate content creation. The monitor has a slender bezel at all sides, with dual-stage design including slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The stand includes slender metal legs for a minimalistic appearance. The OSD is controlled by buttons which face downwards towards the right side of the bottom bezel.

Form and function

A 27″ Nano IPS panel is used, with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and matte anti-glare screen surface. Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used. A 1300:1 static contrast ratio is specified alongside 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour support. The monitor is factory calibrated with DeltaE <2 within the sRGB colour space and supports hardware calibration using Calman software (Calman Ready) with a programmable 3D LUT. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 98% DCI-P3 and 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR) typical maximum luminance. Basic HDR10 reproduction is offered at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing the monitor to put its 10-bit colour processing and generous DCI-P3 gamut to be put to use. But brightness is limited by HDR standards and no local dimming is offered.

A 4ms grey to grey response time is specified, but as usual pay little attention to this figure. The stand combines function with its form, with full ergonomic flexibility including a generous 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The included stand can be removed using a quick-release mechanism to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter, with zero-watt switch), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4, USB-C (96W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), USB-C downstream (15W PD), RJ45 LAN and 2 USB-A ports. At the right side, as viewed from the front, the monitor includes; 2 additional USB-A ports (1 with fast-charging), USB-C (15W PD) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 3W speakers are also included, alongside PiP/PbP and KVM for easy display input switching and USB peripheral sharing between 2 systems.
