IPS monitors with a QHD resolution provide pleasing all-round performance and can be attractive for gaming. The AOC AGON PRO AG276QSG2 delivers this, with AOC AGON’s familiar styling elements. This includes a fairly compact coated metal polygonal stand design, with dual-stage bezels at the top and side – with a black panel border flush with the rest of the screen and a slim hard outer part. A retractable headphone hook is included at the right side. A ‘G-SYNC Ambient Adaptive Tech’ ambient light sensor is included at the top, allowing the screen to adapt brightness and colour temperature according to ambient lighting under both SDR and HDR. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS panel with 360Hz refresh rate is used, with ‘full fat’ Nvidia G-SYNC delivered via a MediaTek scaler. This allows VRR support for Nvidia GPUs and can be accessed via Adaptive-Sync for AMD GPUs (‘FreeSync’). The monitor also supports up to 120Hz QHD for consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, alongside VRR. Nvidia GPU users can use G-SYNC Pulsar, a strobe backlight setting setting which can be used at the same time as VRR. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst 178°/178° viewing angles, a 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 8-bit colour are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 450 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 92.8% DCI-P3 (119.7% sRGB) colour gamut.

A 1ms grey to grey (0.3ms MPRT) response time is specified, whilst basic HDR10 support is provided. The monitor has limited brightness and a limited gamut by HDR standards. No local dimming is specified, though limited edge-lit local dimming may be included. The stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. Provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is supported, whilst a customisable ‘Light FX’ RGB LED lighting element surrounds the stand attachment point. The ports face downwards and include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports (40 Gbps, no DSC – 120Hz max), DP 1.4, 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound reproduction.
