The AOC 24G4X (24G4 in some regions) builds on this with a ‘Fast IPS’ panel running up to 180Hz. The styling has also been refreshed with the red plastic at the base of stand neck and lip beneath the bottom bezel removed. The ‘non-X’ model has a dash of red for the cable-tidy integrated into the stand neck on the – whether this is visible depends on the stand height and where you view the screen from. The stand base has a penguin-foot design for the ‘non-X’ model and hexagonal design on the ‘X’ model, shown below. The top and side bezels retain the dual-stage bezel design with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus a thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is also controlled in the same fashion, controlled by buttons at the right on the underside of the bottom bezel.
A 23.8” 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) IPS-type panel is used with support for a 180Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is suppoted, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used, with 48 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit (6-bit + FRC) colour are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 126.8% sRGB (93.5% DCI-P3) colour gamut, for a bit of extra vibrancy without strong oversaturation. A 0.5ms MPRT response time is specified using the MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) strobe backlight setting, alongside a 1ms grey to grey response time. Pay little attention to such figures, as usual.
The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way, without the high luminance or local dimming capabilities of a true HDR display. It allows the slightly extended gamut to be put to good use alongside 10-bit colour reproduction, however. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are also included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience. The screen attaches to the stand via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ‘non-X’ model includes a red circle around the attachment point, whereas it’s a blended glossy black on the ‘X’ model. The stand is fully adjustable including height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports face downwards and include; HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). The ‘X’ model includes a second HDMI 2.0 port and 2 x 2W speakers for basic sound output.
