The Acer Predator X32 V3 is one such offering, designed as a lower refresh rate and lower priced alternative to some other recent offerings in the space. The monitor has the sharp-lined styling typically associated with the Predator series, though with a more compact base design than some models. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard outer part. An overprovisioning of pixels is included for the ‘pixel shift’ style feature which is standard on QD-OLED models.
A 31.5″ Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is used with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution and 180Hz refresh rate. VRR is supported via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to be used. Games consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X can receive a 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD signal, alongside VRR support. The screen surface is glossy with anti-reflective treatment – the ‘traditional’ QD-OLED screen surface is used rather than the ‘Quantum Black’ treatment that would enhance black depth in ambient light and improve scratch resistance. Other aspects of the specification include; a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles, 10-bit colour, a factory calibration with DeltaE <1 and a 0.03ms grey to grey response time. The monitor is 'flicker-free', with the panel offering a 250 cd/m² (450 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 99% DCI-P3 coverage.
A solid HDR10 experience can be provided with the monitor putting its 10-bit colour, generous gamut and per-pixel illumination to work. It’s certified at the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 level, but lacks any higher peak brightness modes due to the restricted brightness capability of the panel. The stand offers a generous 150mm (5.91 inches) height adjustment alongside tilt and swivel – with provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting offered.
