Further information on supporting our work.The ‘4K’ UHD resolution provides excellent detail and clarity on a 27″ screen, but it can also be difficult to drive at high frame rates. The Acer Predator XB273K V7 is one of a growing number of ‘dual mode’ (or what Acer refers to as DFR – Dynamic Frequency and Resolution) monitors, capable of increased refresh rates at lower resolutions. The monitor has quite ‘aggressive’ styling, typical for models in this series, including a ‘penguin-foot’ stand with sharp lines. Dual-stage bezels are used at the top and sides, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) can be adjusted using the physical control joystick or using an included wireless IR ‘Acer Smart Dial’ remote.
A 27″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) IPS panel is used with 160Hz (500Hz FHD) refresh rate and matte anti-glare screen surface. VRR is supported via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium to be used. Games consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X can use a 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD signal with VRR. Other aspects of note include; a factory calibration with specified DeltaE <1, 178°/178° viewing angles, 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour and 1ms (0.5ms min) grey to grey response time. The monitor is flicker-free with 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance.
Basic HDR support is offered at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, with the monitor able to make potentially good use of its 10-bit colour reproduction and good DCI-P3 coverage. But without the high brightness peaks or local dimming expected of a true HDR experience. The included stand offers height (120mm or 4.72 inches), tilt and swivel adjustment. 100 x 100mm VESA mounting can be used as an alternative. The ports include; HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, USB-C (20W PD), a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). 2 x 2W speakers also feature.
