27″ QHD models with 240Hz+ refresh rate can be diverse options for work and play, including competitive gaming. The Acer Nitro KG271U X (KG271U Xbmiipx) provides this experience. The monitor offers simple styling with star-shaped silver-coloured stand base and matte black plastic bottom bezel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons and a joystick running down the rear of the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from in front.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is used with 240Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync support. This allows VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with assumed 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is employed with 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 90% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are also included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience. Basic HDR10 support is provided, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used and a different look given to content compared to SDR. But without the generous gamut, high brightness or local dimming capability required for a convincing HDR experience.

An ‘up to 0.5ms’ grey to grey response time is specified, a specification which should be taken with the usual pinch of salt. The included stand offers tilt as the only ergonomic flexibility. VESA holes are included for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The capability of the ‘HDMI 2.1’ ports are not known and they could just be HDMI 2.0 ports marketed as ‘HDMI 2.1’ rather than true HDMI 2.1 ports. This is the case with the XV272U W2, which carries similar specs. The monitor is listed for ~$300 USD.
