The AOC AGON Pro PD34 (Porsche Design) provides this experience, with an eye-catching premium design. A sharply-angled brushed metal stand base and neck holds the screen in place. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. An ‘active area’ (overprovisioning of pixels) between the image and panel border is included as an image retention mitigation measure. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel. A down-firing RGB LED lighting feature is also included.
A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is used with support for a 240Hz refresh rate, alongside VRR. This includes Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used. A 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC is supported. A 1800R (moderate) curve is included to draw you into the experience a bit without feeling unnatural. The usual glossy QD-OLED screen surface is used, whilst a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support are specified. The screen is flicker-free with 99.3% DCI-P3 and 97.8% Adobe RGB coverage plus a 250 cd/m² typical maximum luminance (1000 cd/m² HDR peak, 3% APL). A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified, which you should take with the usual pinch of salt. Even though the screen technology is known for its exceptional pixel responsiveness.
The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a dynamic way, putting its per-pixel illumination and generous gamut to work alongside 10-bit colour reproduction. Some strong brightness peaks can also be provided, depending on the HDR mode selected. The monitor is also VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified. The stand includes tilt, swivel and height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment, with provision for alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting included. The ports face downwards and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’ with ‘zero watt’ switch), 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (1 with fast-charging – plus Type-B upstream), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. KVM is supported for easy sharing of connected USB peripherals and display input switching between 2 systems, alongside PbP/PbP. A fairly powerful integrated DTS sound system is included, with 2 x 8W speakers.
