Further information on supporting our work.OLED technology can be attractive a range of uses, particularly gaming and enjoying video content. The LG UltraGear 32GS95UE provides this experience with high refresh rate OLED panel. The monitor has fairly minimalistic styling, with a low-profile stand base and slender neck with lilac-coloured cable tidy loop towards the middle. The bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.
A ~32″ LG Display WOLED panel is used with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution and 240Hz refresh rate supported at the native resolution. The monitor also supports up to 480Hz for 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) and you can easily switch between the two using a hotkey. With HDMI 2.1, the monitor also allows 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD output for games consoles such as the Xbox Series X and PS5, alongside VRR. Adaptive-Sync is also supported, with technologies including AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ supported. Other aspects of note include a matte anti-glare screen surface and 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio. The screen has ‘flicker-free’ illumination with a 98.5% DCI-P3 colour gamut supported. A 275 cd/m² typical maximum luminance is specified and 1300 cd/m² HDR peak is expected. A RGWB subpixel layout is used rather than RWBG, designed to reduce fringing around text.
A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified, which you shouldn’t pay much attention to as usual – though OLED technology is known for exceptional pixel responsiveness. The screen is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, with additional HDR settings offering higher brightness peaks expected. This allows the screen to make good use of its generous gamut, per-pixel dimming and 10-bit colour support with some good brightness pulses. The stand is fully adjustable, including height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports include 2 HDMI 2.1 ports and DP 1.4 (with DSC), plus a downwards-facing 4 pole 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack beneath the bottom bezel which supports DTS Headphone:X. The monitor also includes ‘Pixel Sound Technology’ (with two additional woofers), allowing sound reproduction direct from the screen via pixel vibration. DTS Virtual:X is also supported for an immersive audio experience.
The image below shows an ultrawide screen from the same generation, but this model has a similar rear design.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$1400 USD.
