Some people enjoy the combination of a high refresh rate and resolution, for both work and play. The Nixeus NX-EDG27240X provides this with a WQHD resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. The monitor offers minimalistic styling, with a ‘penguin-foot’ stand base and extensive use of black and transparent plastics. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel flush with the rest of the screen alongside a slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons at the rear of the screen, running horizontally towards the right side as viewed from the front.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is employed, an AUO AHVA panel more specifically. A 240Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, including Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible Mode’ and AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 240Hz VRR range (plus LFC). A matte anti-glare screen surface is used, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio and 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles are specified. A 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut is listed with a 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance. The monitor responds to HDR10 content, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be put to work alongside the extended gamut. The luminance level is restricted by HDR standards and local dimming is not specified, however. A 1ms response time is specified (caution advised), with variable overdrive marketed with 127 acceleration levels. A bit like we saw with the NX-EDG27X, though that featured 100 levels. Low Latency is also noted, with an “average measured Photon to Render (PTR) latency of less than 1ms”. The included stand is tilt-only, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes offered for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; 2 DP 1.4 ports (with DSC), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Basic integrated speakers are also included. The model has been verified by Nixeus as 1080p @120Hz compatible on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. And 1440p @120Hz compatible on the Xbox Series X/S. Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$800 USD.
