Further information on supporting our work. The ‘4K’ UHD resolution can be enjoyed for both work and play on a ~32″ screen size, with a strong pixel density and excellent ‘desktop real estate’ potential. The MSI G321CUV provides this in curved VA form. Styling is quite conservative from the front with a sharp-angled ‘penguin-foot’ stand base and dark matte plastic the material of choice. The top and side bezels have a dual-stage design, with slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen and a slim hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 31.5″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) VA panel is employed, with a moderately steep 1500R curve. This is accompanied by a 60Hz refresh rate and Adaptive-Sync VRR support with a 48 – 60Hz range of operation. Other aspects of note include a matte anti-glare screen surface, 2500:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 103% sRGB (78% DCI-P3) colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included, whilst the monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way. It lacks a suitably high brightness and colour gamut plus no local dimming is specified. Although 10-bit colour processing can be put to use to provide some enhancement to nuanced shade variety. This is a very limited and far from ‘true’ HDR experience.
A 4ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you should put little weight on. The rear includes a strip of ‘Mystic Light’ RGB LEDs at the left side, customisable in the OSD or via one of the company’s apps. The stand provides tilt and height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. The ports face backwards in a recessed area to the right of the stand and include; DP 1.2a, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’).
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The product page includes some inconsistencies as it mentions USB ports in the specifications section (and PDF ‘data sheet’), yet the images and features section of the page do not show these. Information on price and availability still to come.
