Some enjoy the QHD resolution spread across a ~32″ display, finding it immersive without being too difficult to drive at decent frame rates. The LG UltraGear 32G60WA-B (‘B’ denoting black rear) offers this, with a steeply curved VA panel designed for immersive gaming and general use. The monitor has a minimalistic design, including a low-profile stand base and slim wide neck design. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a fairly slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick facing downwards in the central region of the bottom bezel.

Minimalistic design

A 31.5″ VA panel with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution is used, with matte anti-glare screen surface and 1000R curve. This is a steep curve designed to draw you into the experience for added immersion. A 180Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, allowing VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 180Hz VRR range (plus LFC). A static contrast ratio of 3000:1 is specified, alongside 8-bit colour. A flicker-free (‘flicker safe’) WLED backlight provides a 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 99% sRGB colour gamut. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings including a ‘Reader Mode’ are included for a potentially more relaxing viewing experience.

The monitor offers basic HDR10 support, allowing 10-bit colour processing to be used for a different look to things. The monitor lacks a wide gamut or high brightness by HDR standards and no local dimming is specified, however. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, an aggressive specification for a VA model. The stand is tilt-only, though support for alternative 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is included. The ports face backwards in a recessed area beneath the stand attachment point and include; DP 1.4, HDMI 2.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’).

Tilt-only stand (VESA 100 supported)

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$216 USD.
