Further information on supporting our work. The ‘4K’ UHD experience at 120Hz+ can be very enjoyable as either a PC or console gamer. The HP OMEN 27k facilitates this, including HDMI 2.1 to support ‘4K’ UHD @120Hz on devices including the Xbox Series X and PS5. The monitor offers the usual ‘unfussy’ styling of the series, with plenty of matte black plastic and a simple rectangular stand base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with fairly slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated KVM button is also included to allow rapid display input switching and USB peripheral re-assignment between 2 systems.
A 27″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) IPS-type panel is used, supporting a 144Hz refresh rate alongside Adaptive-Sync (HDMI 2.1 VRR also assumed). VRR technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium can be used, with 55 – 144Hz VRR range plus LFC. The screen is also AdaptiveSync Display 144 certified. A 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and true 8-bit colour are specified. A WLED backlight provides a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified (2.0 standard) by TÜV Rheinland, with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak reduced to potentially improve viewing comfort.
Basic HDR10 support is provided at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level, allowing the screen to put its gamut to good use alongside 10-bit processing. But not requiring a particularly high brightness by HDR standards or local dimming. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified (approach with caution), as well as a 1ms MPRT response time using the included strobe backlight setting. 100 x 100mm VESA support is facilitated by an included adaptor bracket. A diamond of RGB LED lighting surrounds the stand attachment point, configurable in the OSD or using OMEN Light Studio. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 3W speakers are also included.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$580 USD.
