Having 2560 x 1440 pixels spread across a 27″ screen provides a good amount of desktop-real estate and clarity. The Dell P2723D of the ‘P’ series offers this, with a focus on a comfortable and productive experience. The usual modern and unfussy design is used, with satin-finish silver plastic for the stand base and a matte black plastic bottom bezel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front. A dedicated power button is also included.

A modern look

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is employed, with support for a 60Hz refresh rate. Other aspects to note include a matte anti-glare screen surface, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 99% sRGB colour gamut. This is a ‘ComfortView Plus’ model, with the blue light peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths, potentially aiding viewing comfort (TÜV Rheinland certified hardware solution). A ‘ComfortView’ Low Blue Light (LBL) setting is also included to reduce blue light of all wavelengths, providing a warmer a look to the image and promoting a more relaxing viewing experience. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified, but as usual don’t pay too much attention to this figure. The stand attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to make way for an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution, if preferred. The stand is fully adjustable, including 150mm (5.9 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 1.4, DP 1.2 and 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus upstream). 2 further USB 3.2 ports are located at the bottom of the screen, beneath and to the left (as viewed from in front) of the main port area for easy access.
