OLED monitors are often sought-after, particularly by gamers looking for a strong combination of image quality and responsiveness. The Dell Alienware AW2726DM offers this as an aggressively priced 240Hz QD-OLED option. The monitor offers pared-back styling compared to some others in the series, with a simple matte black design and rectangular stand base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer component. An overprovisioning of pixels or ‘active area’ surrounds the image, used for the pixel shifting image retention mitigation measure. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from in front.

A 26.5″ Samsung Display QD-OLED panel is used with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution and support for a 240Hz refresh rate. VRR support is included via Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used. And for VRR support on systems like the PS5 which don’t support Adaptive-Sync, but can use HDMI 2.1 VRR instead. The usual ‘2H’ glossy anti-reflective screen surface is adopted, with other points of note including; a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 10-bit colour and 178°/178° viewing angles. The monitor is ‘flicker-free’, with 200 cd/m² typical maximum luminance specified – this is a reduced brightness panel as we’ve seen from a few others recently. A 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut is specified, alongside a 0.03ms grey to grey response time – OLED models are known for exceptional pixel response times.

The monitor is listed without any VESA DisplayHDR True Black certification, owing to its lower brightness capabilities. It can still put its per-pixel illumination, 10-bit colour and generous gamut to good use under HDR – with a brightness edge expected over HDR (up to ~400 cd/m² based on similar models, though not specified). The stand is fully adjustable, including height adjustment (130mm or 5.12 inches) and pivot into portrait. It can be removed to make way for an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution, if preferred. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 3-year warranty included with the monitor covers OLED burn-in for peace of mind.
