The BenQ ZOWIE XL2546K is a redesigned version of the XL2546Z. Aesthetics remain fairly similar, with dark grey matte plastics combined with satin red plastics for a bit of visual interest. The bezels are single-stage with a reasonably slender bezel on all sides. This design is favoured here for extra durability, as this is a monitor designed to be transported to and from events. A detachable ‘Shield’ is included – adjustable privacy wings either side of the screen. The stand base has a newer more compact design, with a less deep and narrower footprint on the desk, allowing players to place the keyboard closer to the screen even if they have it angled. Stability is maintained by shifting back some of the base material further back. The OSD (On Screen Display) controls have been migrated to the rear, with a joystick towards the bottom right (as viewed from in front) and a few accompanying buttons. The alternative wired S-Switch controller is included as well.
A 24.5″ AUO TN panel is used, with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported included AMD FreeSync Premium, with a 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. A medium matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio is specified alongside 8-bit colour supported (6-bit + FRC dithering). A flicker-free WLED backlight is included, offering ~sRGB colour space coverage and a 320 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. A range of Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to enhance viewing comfort. The monitor includes the ‘DyAc+’ (Dynamic Accuracy Plus) strobe backlight setting which minimises perceived blur. The included stand offers tilt, swivel and height adjustment. It attaches centrally via a quick release mechanism and can be removed to make way for an alternative VESA 100 solution if preferred. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 3 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The inclusion of an additional HDMI port and removal of DVI-DL from the older model is notable, but makes sense given the limited capabilities and long-discontinued nature of DVI.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed with an RRP of $499 USD.
