The benefits of higher refresh rates are often touted for gameplay advantages, but they can also be useful for productivity. The ASUS ProArt Display PA278QGV (or ‘PA278QV Gen2′) is designed for productivity and colour-accurate work, whilst featuring a 120Hz refresh rate for a boost to fluidity compared to the 75Hz ‘Gen1’ model. The monitor has a smart home-office appearance, as you’d expect for a model int his series, with satin finish silver-coloured stand neck and base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons facing forwards towards the right side. An integrated ambient light sensor allows the monitor to adapt its brightness according to lighting conditions in the room.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS panel is used, with 120Hz refresh rate plus Adaptive-Sync support. This allows VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 120Hz VRR range plus LFC. VESA MediaSync certification is also included. A matte anti-glare screen surface is adopted, with a 1500:1 typical static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. A Calman Verified factory calibration is included with specified DeltaE <2. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified and basic HDR10 support is offered. The monitor can put its fairly generous DCI-P3 coverage to work there, alongside 10-bit colour. But no local dimming is specified and brightness is limited for an HDR display. The stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 100 x 100mm VESA support is also included. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter with 'zero watt' switch), HDMI 2.0, DP 1.4, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-B upstream and 4 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (2 at bottom of monitor for easy access). 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output.
