Further information on supporting our work. There’s significant interest in OLED gaming monitors, owing to their strong image quality and responsiveness attributes. The AOC AG276QZD of the AGON PRO series provides this experience, with 240Hz OLED screen and QHD resolution. The monitor has more minimalistic styling than most earlier models in the series, with a gunmetal grey stand neck and ‘geometrically interesting’ base shape. The top and side bezels are slim with a dual-stage design, encompassing a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and slim hard outer edge. The bottom bezel is somewhat thicker, though still quite slender. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) LG Display OLED panel is used with matte anti-glare screen surface. A 240Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium to be used with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. The monitor includes a factory calibrated sRGB setting with specified DeltaE <2 and has a 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. The monitor is flicker-free with TÜV Rheinland 'Hardware Solution' for Low Blue Light (LBL), with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths to potentially improve viewing comfort. A 150 cd/m² typical maximum luminance is specified for SDR, with 1000 cd/m² HDR peak specified at 3% APL (Average Picture Level) and 98.5% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. The monitor responds to HDR10 content and puts its per-pixel illumination and quite generous gamut to potentially good use with 10-bit colour processing.
A 0.03ms grey to grey response time is specified – as usual don’t pay too much attention to such figures, though OLED technology is known for its strength in this area. The rear of the screen continues the geometric theme of the the stand base. The pentagonal central area includes customisable ‘Light FX’ RGB LED lighting. A flip-down headphone hook is found towards the top of the stand neck with cable-tidy towards the bottom. The stand offers full ergonomic flexibility, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. It can be removed and an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution used, if preferred. The ports face downwards and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DP 1.4 (with DSC) ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus Type-B upstream) and 3.5mm audio output. 2 x 5W speakers are included to offer basic sound output.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website (Chinese, requires English translation). The monitor is listed for ~$1000 USD (£880).
