OLED monitors are extremely attractive for gaming, owing to their strong responsiveness and image quality. This is provided by the AOC Agon PRO AG276QZD2, an aggressively priced 240Hz QD-OLED option. The monitor uses dark silver and black materials combined for a fairly blended appearance on the desk, with the signature irregular hexagonal stand base design of the series. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard plastic outer component. An ‘active area’ or overprovisioning of pixels surrounds the image, used for pixel shifting to help mitigate image retention. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 26.7″ Samsung Display QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) panel is used with glossy anti-reflective screen surface, 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. VRR support is delivered via Adaptive-Sync, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be be used, with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. A 1.5m:1 static contrast ratio, 10-bit colour and 178°/178° viewing angles are specified. The monitor is factory calibrated with specified DeltaE <2 within the sRGB colour space, whilst the screen is 'flicker-free' with 250 d/m² (1000 cd/m² HDR peak specified for panel) typical maximum luminance and 99.1% DCI-P3 (98% Adobe RGB, 138.4% sRGB) coverage. A 0.03ms grey to grey response time specified - as usual don't pay too much attention to the exact figure, though OLED technology is known for its strength in this area.
The screen delivers a dynamic HDR10 experience, with VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Alternative HDR settings with stronger brightness peaks are included. The monitor’s good peak brightness, per-pixel illumination, 10-bit colour and generous gamut make it a good candidate for strong HDR output. ‘Light FX’ RGB LED lighting is included around the stand attachment point with additional LED logo projector lighting feature. The included stand provides full ergonomic flexibility, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. Alternative mounting via 100 x 100mm VESA is also accommodated. The ports face downwards and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DP 1.4 (with DSC) ports, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (plus upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 x 5W speakers are included for basic and potentially reasonably rich sound reproduction.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website or in our video review, with the monitor listed ~$600 USD.
