Further information on supporting our work. For those seeking a fluid experience with strong contrast, high refresh rate VA models can be attractive. The AOC 25G3ZM (25G3ZM/BK owing to black stand base) provides this, in relatively compact Full HD form factor. The monitor adopts a similar design to others in the series, combining matte black plastic with dark metallic-looking red elements. These include stripes on the underside of the bottom bezel and a cable-tidy loop area on the stand neck. The top and side bezels are dual-stage with reasonably slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen and slim hard plastic outer element. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons on the underside of the bottom bezel, towards the right side.
24.5″ VA panel is used with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) resolution and support for a 240Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported, allowing technologies such as AMD FreeSync and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, with 3000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 92% DCI-P3 colour gamut. Low Blue Low (LBL) settings are included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified alongside a 0.5ms MPRT response time using the MBR strobe backlight setting. As usual, pay little attention to these figures.
The included stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. The stand attaches centrally via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports face downwards and include; 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2, a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter). Some gaming focused additions include a ‘Low Input Lag’ mode, a ‘Shadow Control’ feature to lighten up darker shades for a competitive edge, ‘Frame Counter’ (refresh rate display) and ‘Dial Point’ on-screen crosshair.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed with an MSRP ~£190. No current confirmation on US release. Some user impressions have also been shared on our forum.
