The Acer XR343CK P (XR343CK PBMIIPPHUZX) offers this, with a new generation Nano IPS panel under the hood. The monitor offers that familiar Predator gaming aesthetic, with a fairly aggressive sharp-lined look. The stand base in particular accentuates this, with long and slender feet and the use of brushed metal for a solid look and feel. Dubbed a ‘Dragon Claw’ design in Acer’s Chinese literature. The bottom bezel is dark grey matte plastic, whilst the top and side bezels are dual-stage. This includes a slender hard plastic outer component, plus a slim panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen and appears well-blended when it’s switched off. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by pressable buttons and a joystick at the rear of the monitor, towards the bottom right as viewed from the front.
The monitor features a 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 UltraWide) LG Display Nano IPS panel. More specifically the LM340UW6-SSA3. This has a light matte anti-glare screen surface with 1900R (reasonably gentle) curve. Designed to draw you into the experience a little bit and potentially enhance viewing comfort, without an unnatural feeling. The monitor supports a 180Hz refresh rate via internal overclock, with Adaptive-Sync also supported. This includes AMD FreeSync and Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible Mode’, with a 48 – 180Hz VRR range and LFC support assumed. Elsewhere a 1000:1 static contrast is specified alongside 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles. 10-bit colour is supported (8-bit + FRC), whilst the monitor is factory calibrated with a specified DeltaE <2. A flicker-free WLED backlight is employed, offering a 98% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. This boosts up to 550 cd/m² for HDR content, with the monitor responding to HDR10 content via VESA DisplayHDR 400 support. This doesn't mandate local dimming, but allows the monitor to put its high brightness, 10-bit colour support and generous colour gamut to appropriate use.
Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to enhance viewing comfort and minimise blue light exposure, particularly useful in hours leading up to sleep. A 1ms or ‘as fast as 0.5ms’ grey to grey response time is specified, but it’s best to pay very little attention to such misleading specifications. The included stand offers tilt, swivel and height adjustment (130mm or 5.12 inches). This can be removed using a quick-release mechanism to make way for an alternative 100 x 100mm VESA compatible solution, if preferred. Most of the ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DP 1.4 ports, USB Type-C (85W PD and DP Alt Mode), 2 USB 3.0 ports (plus upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 2 further USB 3.0 ports are located on the left side of the screen, whilst 2 x 7W speakers are included for potentially fairly rich and powerful sound output.
