Further information on supporting our work. There are quite a few high refresh rate 27″ 2560 x 1440 models on the market, with curved VA or flat IPS options being the most common. The Acer XR272U P sets itself apart by offering a (gently) curved IPS panel. The monitor has a simple styling reflecting others from the ‘Nitro’ series, with extensive use of matte black plastic. The stand base is weighted by a metal plate, whilst the cylindrical stand neck is brushed metal to give a solid feel to the stand. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen. And a thin hard plastic outer component. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick and buttons at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is used, with gentle 2900R curve included to slightly increase the sensation of depth when using the monitor. A 170Hz refresh rate is supported alongside Adaptive-Sync, including AMD FreeSync with 48 – 170Hz VRR range (plus LFC) assumed. Other points of note include a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles and 8-bit colour support. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 99% sRGB colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. VESA DisplayHDR 400 support is included, a basic HDR level that allows the monitor to respond to HDR10 content and make use of 10-bit colour processing. It doesn’t require local dimming, a particularly high peak luminance by HDR standards or a generous colour gamut.
Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are also included to aid viewing comfort, whilst a 1ms MPRT response time is specified using the ‘VRB’ strobe backlight setting. The stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 100 x 100mm VESA holes are provided for alternative mounting, too. The ports mainly face downwards and include; DP 1.4, 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus upstream) and a 3.5mm audio output. 2 additional USB 3.2 Gen1 ports are found on the left side of the screen, when viewed from the front. 2 x 2W speakers are also included for basic sound output.
