The Acer X27 S offers this combination, coupling it with a capable backlight for potentially very compelling HDR. The final design may differ from what is described and shown below. The design is similar to other Predator models. With a coated metal stand base combined with matte black plastics and a few dark red touches, including where the stand base and neck joins. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a slender hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons and a joystick running down the rear of the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from in front.
A 27″ 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) IPS-type panel is employed, with the AUO M270QAN07.5 AHVA panel being the most likely candidate. A 160Hz refresh rate is supported, alongside Adaptive-Sync – including Nvidia’s ‘G-SYNC Compatible Mode’ and AMD FreeSync Premium with a 48 – 160Hz VRR range, plus LFC. A 1200:1 static contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles are specified, whilst a light matte anti-glare screen surface is expected. 10-bit colour is supported and the monitor includes a factory calibrated sRGB emulation mode with specified DeltaE <1. A flicker-free QD Mini LED backlight provides a 99% Adobe RGB colour gamut and 1000 cd/m² (1200 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance. VESA DisplayHDR 1000 support is included, with a powerful 576-zone Mini LED backlight creating a potentially very dynamic experience. The generous colour gamut and 10-bit colour support can also be put to good use.
Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included to promote a more relaxing viewing experience. A 1ms or ‘up to 0.5ms’ grey to grey response time is specified, which you should approach with caution as usual. The included stand is fully adjustable, including height and pivot. The ports mainly face downwards and include; AC power (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data), a 3.5mm audio output and 2 USB 3.0 ports. 2 further USB 3.0 ports are found at the left side, as viewed from the front. 2 x 4W speakers are also included. Which this model designed to offer a very complete PC gaming and general usage experience, HDMI 2.1 allows it to run ‘4K’ UHD @120Hz on compatible games consoles such as the PS5 and Xbox Series X, too.
