Competitive gamers are amongst those who can really benefit from the responsiveness of OLED technology. The Acer Predator X27U F8 is designed to really take advantage of this aspect, with 540Hz+ OLED panel. The monitor has a coated metal ‘penguin foot’ stand base, with slender bezels. These are ‘dual stage’ with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard outer part. An ‘active area’ (overprovisioning of pixels) between the image and panel border is used for one of the image retention mitigation measures. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a central joystick beneath the bottom bezel.

A 26.5″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) LG Display ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ WOLED panel is used with 540Hz (‘Dual Mode’ with 720Hz FHD or 1080p) refresh rate and VRR support, via both Adaptive-Sync and HDMI 2.1 VRR. This allows VRR technologies including Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro to be used, with 48 – 540Hz (48 – 720Hz FHD) VRR range plus LFC expected. A matte anti-glare screen surface is adopted, with 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour specified. The screen is ‘flicker-free’ with 99% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 335 cd/m² typical maximum luminance (1500 cd/m² HDR peak at 1.5% APL expected). The 10-bit colour support, wide colour gamut and per-pixel dimming can provide a highly dynamic HDR10 experience. The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified – requiring higher brightness levels, including full screen white brightness, than the more common True Black 400 certification. An HDR mode with stronger brightness peaks is also included. The monitor is factory calibrated with a DeltaE <2 and has a specified 0.01ms grey to grey response time - OLED technology is known to be particularly strong in this area. The stand is fully adjustable with VESA mounting supported. The ports face backwards beneath the stand attachment point and include; 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, 2 'DP 2.1' ports (with DSC) and USB-C (90W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data). 2 USB 3.2 Gen1 ports (plus 2 Type-B upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack are expected, alongside DC power input (external 'power brick') and 2 x 5W speakers. The screen supports KVM for easy peripheral sharing and display switching between 2 systems.
