Further information on supporting our work.21:9 ultrawides with 3440 x 1440 resolution can provide an enjoyable entertainment experience. The Acer Nitro EDA343CUR X (EDA343CUR Xbmiippx full designation) is built around this, with a highly curved 240Hz ultrawide panel. The monitor includes a coated metal stand with ‘penguin-foot’ design, with dark matte plastics used elsewhere. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 34″ 3440 x 1440 (21:9 ultrawide) VA panel is used with 240Hz refresh rate and VRR support. This includes Adaptive-Sync (and presumably HDMI 2.1) supporting technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync Premium. A 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC is assumed. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used with the screen adopting a 1000R (steep) curve to draw you into the experience and potentially enhance viewing comfort. With viewing comfort in mind the screen also includes Low Blue Light (LBL) settings, with a flicker-free WLED backlight providing a 90% Adobe RGB colour gamut and expected 300 cd/m²+ typical maximum luminance. Basic HDR10 support is included, but the monitor doesn’t have specified local dimming, a high brightness by HDR standards or a wide enough colour gamut for a true HDR experience. An ‘up to 0.5ms’ response time is specified – approach with the usual caution. The stand is tilt-only and can be removed via quick-release to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. Connectivity options include 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 and a 3.5mm audio output. 2 x 3W speakers are also included, for basic sound reproduction.
Further details on the ED3 series can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$420 USD.
