Further information on supporting our work. For some creatives a high pixel density is very attractive. This is something offered by the BenQ PD2730S, featuring a 27″ 5K display for an exceptional pixel density of 218 PPI (Pixels Per Inch). The stand has a coated metal finish in light silver, providing a solid and premium look and feel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus a slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD is controlled by buttons which face downwards towards the right side, or alternatively using the included wireless ‘Hotkey Puck G3’ remote.
A 27″ IPS-type panel is used with 5120 x 2880 (5K) resolution, ‘nano matte’ anti-glare screen surface and 60Hz refresh rate. A 2000:1 static contrast ratio is specified (double the usual 1000:1 for the panel type) alongside 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour support. The monitor is factory calibrated (Pantone Validated and Calman Verified) with a specified average DeltaE ≤2. A Uniformity Compensation (UC) setting (‘BenQ Uniformity Technology’) is included to even out brightness at various points of the screen. A range of gamma settings feature, from ‘1.8’ to ‘2.6’ and including ‘sRGB’. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut and 400 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. The manufacturer’s usual selection of well-balanced Low Blue Light (LBL) settings are included, with the monitor also offering basic HDR10 reproduction at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level. Brightness is limited by HDR standards and local dimming isn’t specified, but the fairly generous DCI-P3 gamut can be put to good use alongside 10-bit colour reproduction.
A fully adjustable stand is provided, including height adjustment (150mm or 5.91 inches) and pivot into portrait. It attaches via a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting. The ports mainly face backwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, Thunderbolt 4 (90W PD, DP Alt Mode, upstream data) and USB-C (upstream data only). A USB-C downstream port, 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports and 3.5mm headphone jack is located at the bottom of the screen (towards left as viewed from the front) for easy access. 2 x 3W speakers are also included, alongside PiP/PbP and KVM for easy display input switching and USB peripheral sharing between 2 systems.
Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s website. Information on price and availability still to come.
