A broad range of 2560 x 1440 (QHD) models with 27″ screen size are available on the market and are what many will aim for for both general usage and gaming. The Gigabyte GS27QC provides this, with medium refresh rate VA panel. The monitor is mainly dark matte plastic, with black plastic mixed in on the bottom bezel. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick beneath the central region of the bottom bezel.

Simple dark plastic design

A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) VA panel is used, with 170Hz refresh rate (165Hz + mild factory OC) and Adaptive-Sync support. Allowing technologies including AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 170Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is used with a 4000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 8-bit colour specified. The monitor has a moderate (1500R) curve to draw you into the experience a bit. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 250 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 108% sRGB colour gamut – so this can be considered a standard gamut display. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified (2.0 standard) by TÜV Rheinland, with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak reduced to potentially improve viewing comfort. The monitor responds to HDR10 content in a basic way and can leverage 10-bit colour processing, but doesn’t have the brightness, local dimming capabilities or colour gamut for a real HDR experience. A 1ms MPRT response time (approach with caution) is specified using the included strobe backlight mode. The stand is tilt-only, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.4 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$230 USD.
