Further information on supporting our work.IPS models with QHD resolution and high refresh rate are appreciated by gamers, including for competitive play. The ViewSonic XG2736-2K provides this experience. The stand adopts a ‘penguin foot’ design with broad but slender stand neck and triangular cable-tidy area. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 27″ 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is included, supporting a 240Hz refresh rate alongside Adaptive-Sync and presumably HDMI 2.1 VRR. This allows VRR technologies such as AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ to be used, with 48 – 240Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is adopted with a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 130% sRGB colour gamut and 300 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. A basic HDR10 response is provided, allowing the reasonable gamut and 10-bit colour to be put to good use. But not requiring a high brightness or with any specified local dimming. A 0.5ms MPRT response time is specified using the included strobe backlight setting, but as usual pay little attention to this figure. The included stand is fully adjustable, including height adjustment and pivot into portrait. 75 x 75mm VESA mounting is also supported and RGB LED lighting elements are included. The ports face downwards and include; DC power input (external ‘power brick’), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4, USB-C (65W PD, DP Alt Mode) and a 3.5mm audio output. 2 x 2W speakers are included for basic sound output.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$315 USD.
