The Philips Evnia 32M2N6800M uses such a panel, in IPS flavour. HDMI 2.1 support also features, widening the appeal for console gamers and allowing 120Hz ‘4K’ UHD output on devices such as the Xbox Series S and PS5. The monitor makes extensive use of dark matte plastics, with a ‘marbled effect’ (dark grey with medium grey speckling) stand base. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 31.5” IPS-type panel is used with 3840 x 2160 (‘4K’ UHD) resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync is supported alongside HDMI 2.1 VRR, allowing technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used, with 48 – 144Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour (8-bit + FRC) are specified. A flicker-free Quantum Dot Mini LED backlight delivers a 99.5% DCI-P3 (166% sRGB) colour gamut plus 700 cd/m² (1250 cd/m² HDR peak) typical maximum luminance and 1152 dimming zones. Doubling the dimming zone count of the FALD backlight solution used on the X32 FP.
The Mini LED solution allows for a dynamic experience under HDR, at the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 level. The wide gamut and 10-bit colour processing can be put to good use alongside strong brightness and effective local dimming. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, to be taken with a pinch of salt as usual. ‘Low Input Lag’ is also specified. The stand attaches centrally and includes tilt, swivel and height (130mm or 5.12 inches) adjustment. It can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA mounting provision. 3-sided ‘Ambiglow’ RGB LEDs are also included at the rear. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, DP 1.4 (with DSC), 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (one with fast charging, plus Type-B upstream) and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is available from August 2024 with an MSRP ~£740.
