The Philips Evnia 27M2N5500 is one such offering, sporting a 180Hz QHD IPS panel. The monitor includes a ‘penguin foot’ stand design with marbled effect (dark and lighter grey). The top and side bezels include a slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen, plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 27″ IPS panel is used with 2560 x 1440 (QHD or 1440p) resolution and 180Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync features, allowing VRR technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used with 48 – 180Hz VRR range plus LFC. A matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst 178°/178° viewing angles, a 1200:1 static contrast ratio and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour are specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 350 cd/m² (400 cd/m² HDR) typical maximum luminance and 93.5% DCI-P3 (125% sRGB, 89% Adobe RGB) colour gamut. Basic HDR10 support is offered at the VESA DisplayHDR 400 level. This doesn’t require the high brightness, local dimming or the generous gamut that creates a true HDR experience. But it allows the screen to respond to HDR content with 10-bit colour processing, puts its reasonable gamut to work and gives a slight boost in brightness. A 0.5ms grey to grey response time is specified using the included MBR strobe backlight setting. The stand is fully adjustable, including 130mm (5.12 inches) height adjustment and pivot into portrait. Provision for 100 x 100mm VESA mounting is also included. The ports face downwards and include; 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set), a 3.5mm headphone jack and AC power input (internal power converter).
Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor has an MSRP of ~£240.
