A 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution combined with a ~32″ screen can hit the spot for immersion, whilst offering a reasonable pixel density and good amount of work space. The HP X32 provides such an experience, with simple homely styling. This includes extensive use of matte black plastic, with a dual-stage bezel design for the top and sides. This includes a slender panel border flush with the rest of the screen and a slim hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by buttons running vertically down the monitor, towards the right side as viewed from the front.

Homely aesthetics

A 31.5″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD or 1440p) IPS-type panel is employed. Based around the LG Display LM315WQ1 and BOE MV315QHM-N50 (used interchangeably), more specifically. A 165Hz refresh rate is offered, with Adaptive-Sync also supported – including AMD FreeSync Premium with a 60 – 165Hz VRR range plus LFC. A light matte anti-glare screen surface is included, whilst a 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit colour (8-bit + FRC) is specified. A flicker-free WLED backlight delivers a 400 cd/m² peak luminance and 99% sRGB colour gamut. The monitor is ‘Eyesafe’ certified by TÜV Rheinland, with the blue peak shifted to less energetic wavelengths and the amplitude of the peak reduced to potentially improve viewing comfort.

The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified, a basic HDR certification level that allows the monitor to respond to HDR10 content. And use 10-bit colour processing. But without specific requirements for local dimming, a particularly high brightness or generous colour gamut by HDR standards. A 1ms grey to grey response time is specified, which as usual you shouldn’t put too much weight on. The included stand attaches centrally using a quick-release mechanism and can be removed to reveal 100 x 100mm VESA holes for alternative mounting. It includes tilt and height (100mm or 3.94 inches) adjustment. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), DP 1.4, HDMI 2.0 and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

A simple rear

Further details can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The monitor is listed for ~$400 USD (£350).
