The MSI MAG 255XF is one such model, providing a 300Hz Full HD IPS experience. The monitor has a ‘penguin foot’ stand with dark grey plastics used extensively. The top and side bezels are dual-stage, with slim panel border flush with the rest of the screen plus thin hard plastic outer part. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the rear of the screen, towards the right side as viewed from the front.
A 24.5″ 1920 x 1080 (Full HD or 1080p) IPS-type panel is used with support for a 300Hz refresh rate. Adaptive-Sync also features, allowing VRR technologies such as Nvidia ‘G-SYNC Compatible’ and AMD FreeSync to be used with 48 – 300Hz VRR range plus LFC. Other aspects include a matte anti-glare screen surface, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 178°/178° viewing angles and 10-bit (8-bit + FRC) colour. A flicker-free WLED backlight provides a 250 cd/m² typical maximum luminance and 90% DCI-P3 (87% Adobe RGB, 120% sRGB) colour gamut. Basic HDR10 support is provided, allowing the screen to use 10-bit colour processing and put its reasonable DCI-P3 gamut to good use. But the brightness is not very high and no local dimming is specified. A 0.5ms grey to grey response time is specified, which should be taken with the usual pinch of salt. The included stand is tilt-only, with 100 x 100mm VESA holes included for alternative mounting. The ports face downwards and include; AC power input (internal power converter), a 3.5mm headphone jack, DP 1.4 and 2 HDMI 2.0 ports.
