The LG 32GN600 (32GN600-B owing to mainly black rear and stand) and 32GN650 (32GN650-B) are two such offerings – and like the ‘GK’ models of several years ago (32GK850F etc.) a flat rather than curved panel is used. As a member of the UltraGear series, the usual style is adopted. Largely matte black plastic with a few red elements including at the rear of the penguin-foot stand base. The OSD (On Screen Display) is controlled by a joystick at the bottom of the monitor, in the central region.
The monitors use a 31.5″ 2560 x 1440 (WQHD) VA (Vertical Alignment) panel, an AU Optronics part, the M320F0(AD0-M10). A 165Hz refresh rate is supported, with Adaptive-Sync offered including AMD FreeSync, with a 48 – 165Hz VRR range plus LFC. A light matte anti-glare screen surface, 178° horizontal and vertical viewing angles and 8-bit colour support is included and a 3000:1 static contrast specified. A flicker-free (‘Flicker Safe’) WLED backlight is included, with 95% sRGB colour gamut and 350 cd/m² typical maximum luminance. This is a significantly narrower colour gamut than other recent competing models. The monitors offer very basic HDR support – it will respond to HDR10 content but lacks any semblance of ‘true’ HDR capability due to the relatively limited luminance, very restrictive colour gamut and lack of specified local dimming. Low Blue Light (LBL) settings including ‘Reader Mode’ feature to enhance viewing comfort. A 5ms grey to grey response time is specified alongside a 1ms MPRT response time using the MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) strobe backlight setting. As usual pay little attention to these figures. The included stand is tilt-only for the ‘600’ model whilst the ‘650’ offers tilt, height and pivot adjustment. The ports are located in a recessed area to the right of centre and include; DP 1.2a+ (HDR feature set), 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 3.5mm headphone jack and DC power input (external ‘power brick’).
Further information on the ‘600’ and ‘650’ can be found on the manufacturer’s website. The ‘650’ is listed for ~$400 USD.
